Amends the Township Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning duplicate township names.

1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section
5 5-55 as follows:
6 (60 ILCS 1/5-55)
7 Sec. 5-55. Duplicate township names. If the the Secretary
8 of State, on comparing the abstracts of the reports from the
9 several counties, finds that any 2 or more townships are named
10 alike, he shall so inform the clerk of the county which last
11 adopted the name. The county board of that county shall, at its
12 next meeting, adopt for the township some different name. When
13 the name is adopted, the county clerk shall inform the
14 Secretary of State as provided in Section 5-50.
