1 AN ACT concerning health.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Newborn Metabolic Screening Act is amended
5by changing Section 1 as follows:
6 (410 ILCS 240/1) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 4903)
7 Sec. 1. The The Illinois Department of Public Health shall
8promulgate and enforce rules and regulations requiring that
9every newborn be subjected to tests for phenylketonuria,
10hypothyroidism, galactosemia and such other metabolic diseases
11as the Department may deem necessary from time to time. The
12Department is empowered to promulgate such additional rules and
13regulations as are found necessary for the administration of
14this Act, including mandatory reporting of the results of all
15tests for these conditions to the Illinois Department of Public
16Health.
