| 1 | AN ACT concerning local government.
| ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section | ||||||
| 5 | 5-25026 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (55 ILCS 5/5-25026 new)
| ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 5-25026. Locally grown foods. Except in emergency | ||||||
| 8 | situations, including but not limited to a food-borne disease | ||||||
| 9 | outbreak, the board of health of a county or multi-county | ||||||
| 10 | health department may not discourage the purchase or | ||||||
| 11 | consumption of locally grown foods in relation to foods that | ||||||
| 12 | are not locally grown.

| 13 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
| 14 | becoming law.
