| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Valerie Salmons on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of her retirement after 35 years of service with the | ||||||
| 5 | Village of Bartlett on January 31, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Valerie Salmons joined Bartlett as the Village | ||||||
| 7 | Administrator in 1982; during her tenure, she saw the | ||||||
| 8 | population of Bartlett grow from 13,254 to over 42,000; its | ||||||
| 9 | size grew from eight square miles to nearly 16; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Valerie Salmons carefully managed the growth of | ||||||
| 11 | Bartlett by balancing residential, commercial, and industrial | ||||||
| 12 | development; she provided a high level of service for the | ||||||
| 13 | residents within fiscally sound, balanced budgets; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, In 1990, Valerie Salmons was the first woman | ||||||
| 15 | appointed to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and | ||||||
| 16 | Standards Board; she was reappointed by six subsequent Illinois | ||||||
| 17 | governors and was the first woman elected to the board to serve | ||||||
| 18 | as Chairman; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Valerie Salmons had a high level of expectations | ||||||
| 20 | for the various departments serving Bartlett; in 1997, the | ||||||
| 21 | Bartlett Police Department was awarded its first Commission on | ||||||

| 1 | Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and has been | ||||||
| 2 | re-accredited six times; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Valerie Salmons has spent 42 years in public | ||||||
| 4 | service and is the longest-serving village administrator in the | ||||||
| 5 | State of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 7 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 8 | congratulate Valerie Salmons on her retirement after 35 years | ||||||
| 9 | of service with the Village of Bartlett, and we wish her the | ||||||
| 10 | best in all her future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to Valerie Salmons as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 13 | respect.
