| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Captain Gerald Scott | ||||||
| 4 | Compton on the occasion of his retirement from the Illinois | ||||||
| 5 | State Police after over 26 years of dedicated service; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Captain Compton started his career with Cadet | ||||||
| 7 | Class 88 on June 25, 1990; upon graduation, he was assigned as | ||||||
| 8 | a Trooper to District 14; he transferred to the Division of | ||||||
| 9 | Operations Intelligence Bureau on April 15, 1995; he was | ||||||
| 10 | promoted to Sergeant on November 16, 1996 and to Master | ||||||
| 11 | Sergeant on October 1, 2001; while in the Division of | ||||||
| 12 | Operations, he spent time as the Southern Intelligence | ||||||
| 13 | Coordinator, Tactical Analysis Supervisor, Post Seizure | ||||||
| 14 | Analysis Supervisor, Staff Officer for the Division of | ||||||
| 15 | Operations, and with the criminal conspiracy unit;
he | ||||||
| 16 | transferred to the Division of Internal Investigations on | ||||||
| 17 | October 16, 2002; he was promoted to Lieutenant on October 1, | ||||||
| 18 | 2005; he transferred to the Office of the Director to serve as | ||||||
| 19 | the Public Information Officer on February 1, 2007; he was | ||||||
| 20 | promoted to Captain on May 1, 2009; he transferred to District | ||||||
| 21 | 18 Litchfield as the District Commander in 2011 and to District | ||||||
| 22 | 9 Springfield as the District Commander on
March 16, 2013; and

| 23 | WHEREAS, Captain Compton served at the last four Illinois | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | State Fairs; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Captain Compton received a Department Service | ||||||
| 3 | Ribbon for the Roby Ridge Incident in 1997; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Captain Compton is the son of Everett and Brenda | ||||||
| 5 | Compton of Nokomis; he is a
1984 graduate of Nokomis High | ||||||
| 6 | School and received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice | ||||||
| 7 | Sciences in 1988 from Illinois State University; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Captain Compton will spend time with his wife and | ||||||
| 9 | two children during retirement, which will become official on | ||||||
| 10 | January 1, 2017; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 12 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 13 | congratulate Captain Gerald Scott Compton on his retirement | ||||||
| 14 | from the Illinois State Police, and we wish him the best in all | ||||||
| 15 | his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to Captain Compton as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 18 | respect.
