| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of David Root, Superintendent of | ||||||
| 4 | Williamsville-Sherman School District, who passed away on | ||||||
| 5 | September 7, 2016 after having been diagnosed with leukemia; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Superintendent Root and his wife Julie had two | ||||||
| 8 | beautiful children; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Superintendent Root's career saw him teach and | ||||||
| 10 | coach in Williamsville before becoming a K-12 principal and | ||||||
| 11 | Athletic Director in Greenview; he also served as principal at | ||||||
| 12 | Athens High School before taking over as Superintendent of | ||||||
| 13 | Williamsville-Sherman School District in 2007; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Superintendent Root took over as Superintendent | ||||||
| 15 | during very challenging times for the district; he was able to | ||||||
| 16 | turn the district around with his financial acumen and ability | ||||||
| 17 | to understand complex budgeting issues; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Superintendent Root served as a leader and mentor | ||||||
| 19 | to many in the district and was a good friend to nearly | ||||||
| 20 | everyone who came to know him; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Superintendent Root worked tirelessly to make | ||||||
| 2 | Williamsville-Sherman School District one of the best school | ||||||
| 3 | districts in the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Superintendent Root treated every person he | ||||||
| 5 | encountered the way he would want to be treated himself; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Superintendent Root leaves behind a lasting | ||||||
| 7 | legacy of his passion for educating our children and his strong | ||||||
| 8 | commitment to helping them achieve their dreams and live up to | ||||||
| 9 | their fullest potential; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 11 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 12 | mourn the loss of Williamsville-Sherman School District | ||||||
| 13 | Superintendent David Root and offer our deepest condolences to | ||||||
| 14 | his family, friends, and the entire Williamsville-Sherman | ||||||
| 15 | community; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Superintendent Root as a symbol of | ||||||
| 18 | our sorrow over his passing.
