HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is saddened
3to learn of the death of David Root, Superintendent of
4Williamsville-Sherman School District, who passed away on
5September 7, 2016 after having been diagnosed with leukemia;
6and
7 WHEREAS, Superintendent Root and his wife Julie had two
8beautiful children; and
9 WHEREAS, Superintendent Root's career saw him teach and
10coach in Williamsville before becoming a K-12 principal and
11Athletic Director in Greenview; he also served as principal at
12Athens High School before taking over as Superintendent of
13Williamsville-Sherman School District in 2007; and
14 WHEREAS, Superintendent Root took over as Superintendent
15during very challenging times for the district; he was able to
16turn the district around with his financial acumen and ability
17to understand complex budgeting issues; and
18 WHEREAS, Superintendent Root served as a leader and mentor
19to many in the district and was a good friend to nearly
20everyone who came to know him; and

1 WHEREAS, Superintendent Root worked tirelessly to make
2Williamsville-Sherman School District one of the best school
3districts in the State of Illinois; and
4 WHEREAS, Superintendent Root treated every person he
5encountered the way he would want to be treated himself; and
6 WHEREAS, Superintendent Root leaves behind a lasting
7legacy of his passion for educating our children and his strong
8commitment to helping them achieve their dreams and live up to
9their fullest potential; therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12mourn the loss of Williamsville-Sherman School District
13Superintendent David Root and offer our deepest condolences to
14his family, friends, and the entire Williamsville-Sherman
15community; and be it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Superintendent Root as a symbol of
18our sorrow over his passing.
