| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Walter H. | ||||||
| 4 | Shepard of Antioch, who passed away on August 13, 2010; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Walter Shepard was born on March 6, 1935, in | ||||||
| 6 | Antioch; he was the son of Hanaford E. and Elizabeth (Gaston) | ||||||
| 7 | Shepard; he married Beverly J. Hampe on October 6, 1959, in | ||||||
| 8 | Jennings, Missouri; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Walter Shepard lived in Lee Summit, Missouri for | ||||||
| 10 | several years before moving back to Antioch in 1959; he | ||||||
| 11 | attended the former Missouri School of Mines and later worked | ||||||
| 12 | in a steel foundry; he also worked for the State of Illinois | ||||||
| 13 | Department of Transportation, the Village of Antioch, the City | ||||||
| 14 | of Evanston, and the Lake County Public Works; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Walter Shepard was particularly proud of his role | ||||||
| 16 | in building the Hiram Buttrick Saw Mill and establishing the | ||||||
| 17 | Antioch Historical Society Building; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Walter Shepard was a member of the United | ||||||
| 19 | Methodist Church of Antioch; he was an Eagle Scout of the Boy | ||||||
| 20 | Scouts of America; he served in the U.S. Army; he was a past | ||||||
| 21 | president and member of the Antioch Lions Club; he was a member | ||||||

| 1 | of the Tuesday night business man's golf league; he was also an | ||||||
| 2 | avid fisherman and woodworker and loved to boat race with his | ||||||
| 3 | son and grandson; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Walter Shepard was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 5 | parents; his brother, Howard; and his sister, Mary; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Walter Shepard is survived by his wife, Beverly; | ||||||
| 7 | his children, Kevin (Robin) Shepard, Karen Olson, Kathryn | ||||||
| 8 | (Mark) Woytus, Kristopher (Jenny) Shepard, and Karla Shepard; | ||||||
| 9 | and his grandchildren, Alex, Jacob, and Joshua Shepard, Leo and | ||||||
| 10 | Lucas Olson, Matthew and Samantha Woytus, and Michael and | ||||||
| 11 | Madison Shepard; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 14 | mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Walter | ||||||
| 15 | H. Shepard; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Walter Shepard as an expression of | ||||||
| 18 | our sympathy.
