2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Stuart | ||||||
4 | Charles Hoehne; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Stuart Hoehne was born on September 23, 1930, in | ||||||
6 | Greenbush, Wisconsin; his parents were Eldon and Ruth (nee | ||||||
7 | Laack) Hoehne; he attended Gavin Elementary and Grant Community | ||||||
8 | High School, where he was a Golden Glove Boxer; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Stuart Hoehne served as a corporal in the United | ||||||
10 | States Army from 1948 to 1951; during his service, he was | ||||||
11 | honored and commended for his performance in extremely | ||||||
12 | hazardous duty at Obersalzberg, Eagle's Nest Road, a location | ||||||
13 | near Berchtesgaden, Bavaria; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, After his service in the Army, Stuart Hoehne | ||||||
15 | worked with his grandfather, Ben Hoehne, and his father, Eldon | ||||||
16 | Hoehne, at Hoehne Sand & Gravel; he later began his own | ||||||
17 | business, the Stuart C. Hoehne Excavating, Inc., which operated | ||||||
18 | from 1964 to 1974; during that time, he held a position on the | ||||||
19 | Fox Lake Planning and Zoning Board for the Village of Fox Lake | ||||||
20 | and eventually became a village trustee, where he was later | ||||||
21 | elected for a second term; in 1974, he was hired by the Village | ||||||
22 | of Fox Lake as Foreman of Public Works; in 1978, he became |

1 | Superintendent in Fox Lake, where he served until his | ||||||
2 | retirement in October of 1995; during his career, he proudly | ||||||
3 | served under 9 Mayors of Fox Lake; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, In 1957, Stuart Hoehne joined the Fox Lake | ||||||
5 | Volunteer Fire Department; he rose steadily through the ranks, | ||||||
6 | becoming Lieutenant, Captain, and then Assistant Chief before | ||||||
7 | becoming Chief in 1981; he served as Chief until his retirement | ||||||
8 | in 2001; that same year, Fox Lake Mayor Nancy Koske appointed | ||||||
9 | him to serve as Chief Emeritus; during his tenure as Fire | ||||||
10 | Chief, he was responsible for 2 major expansions of Fire | ||||||
11 | Station #2 on Washington Avenue and the construction of Station | ||||||
12 | #3 on Molidor Road and Station #4 on State Park Road; Station | ||||||
13 | #4 was dedicated and named in honor of his service to the | ||||||
14 | community; he was also the chairman of the first Fox Lake | ||||||
15 | Volunteer Fireman's Festival Days; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Stuart Hoehne was an active member of several | ||||||
17 | organizations, including the Republican Party, where he was | ||||||
18 | elected to serve as a precinct committeeman in the 1960s; he | ||||||
19 | was also a member of the American Legion Post 703 in Fox Lake | ||||||
20 | for 58 years, a charter member of the VFW, and a member of the | ||||||
21 | Lake County Fire Chiefs Association, the Illinois Fire Chiefs | ||||||
22 | Association, and the International Fire Chiefs Association; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Stuart Hoehne was preceded in death by his | ||||||
2 | parents; his wife, Marilyn; his brother, David; and his | ||||||
3 | grandson, Donald Rogers; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Stuart Hoehne is survived by his children, Richard | ||||||
5 | (Carole Jo) Hoehne, Nancy (Jimmy) Rogers, Ronald (Rose) Hoehne, | ||||||
6 | and Lawrence (Veronica) Hoehne; his stepdaughter, Kim Minne; | ||||||
7 | his grandchildren, Richard E. (Kimberly) Hoehne, Kristena | ||||||
8 | Clark, Dori Rand, Michael Hoehne, Veronica (Matt) Lukemeyer, | ||||||
9 | Joanna Hoehne, Daniel, Steven, and Emily Hoehne, Tiffany and | ||||||
10 | Leo Minne Jr., Renee Mraz, and Zackery Rogers; his | ||||||
11 | great-grandchildren, Larry and Emily Hoehne, Carly and | ||||||
12 | Nicholas Rand, Kassandra and Kameron Clark, and Jacob Mraz; his | ||||||
13 | brothers, Roger (Chris) Hoehne, Gary Hoehne, and Jim Hoehne; | ||||||
14 | his sister, Bonnie Smith; and his many nieces, nephews, and | ||||||
15 | other relatives; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
17 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
18 | mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Stuart | ||||||
19 | Charles Hoehne; and be it further
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Stuart Hoehne as an expression of | ||||||
22 | our sympathy.
