| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Albert | ||||||
| 4 | Davis Cheeks of Chicago, who passed away on November 9, 2014; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks was born on April 9, 1930 to Alice | ||||||
| 7 | (nee Hunter) and Sandy Cheeks; he was one of 9 children; he | ||||||
| 8 | married Dovie Leon Conway in 1954 in Canton, Mississippi; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks worked at International Harvest, | ||||||
| 10 | Inc. as a Master Mechanic for 35 years, retiring in 1992; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks enjoyed walking, bowling, cooking, | ||||||
| 12 | planting vegetables, deer hunting with his nephews, watching | ||||||
| 13 | Wheel of Fortune with his wife, and secretly watching soap | ||||||
| 14 | operas; he was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago | ||||||
| 15 | Bears; he was a lifelong member of Fellowship Missionary | ||||||
| 16 | Baptist Church in Chicago; he volunteered much of his time with | ||||||
| 17 | the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help the less fortunate; | ||||||
| 18 | and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 20 | parents; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks is survived by his wife, Dovie; his | ||||||
| 2 | children, Delois Cheeks Graham, Albert Cheeks, Jr., Ronald | ||||||
| 3 | Stephen Cheeks, Darnell Cheeks, Alice Richell Cheeks-Zutant, | ||||||
| 4 | and Wardene Stewart; his grandchildren; his | ||||||
| 5 | great-grandchildren; his great-great-grandchildren; and a host | ||||||
| 6 | of nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Uncle | ||||||
| 7 | A.D."; therefore, be it

| 8 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 9 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 10 | we mourn the passing of Albert Davis Cheeks, and extend our | ||||||
| 11 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 12 | and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to the family of Albert Cheeks as an expression of | ||||||
| 15 | our deepest sympathy.
