| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate State Representative | ||||||
| 4 | Richard Morthland for his service in the Illinois House; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Rep. Richard Morthland began serving in the | ||||||
| 6 | Illinois House in 2011; he represents the 71st District, which | ||||||
| 7 | includes portions of Rock Island, Whiteside, Carroll, and Henry | ||||||
| 8 | counties; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Rep. Richard Morthland has been a relentless | ||||||
| 10 | advocate for taxpayers and a champion of privacy rights for | ||||||
| 11 | law-abiding gun owners in Illinois; he served on the following | ||||||
| 12 | committees: Appropriations-Higher Education, Public Utilities, | ||||||
| 13 | Cities & Villages, Counties & Townships, Adoption Reform, | ||||||
| 14 | Higher Education, and Veterans' Affairs; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Rep. Richard Morthland served on the Rock Island | ||||||
| 16 | County board, leading the opposition against pay raises for | ||||||
| 17 | elected county board members while county employees were being | ||||||
| 18 | laid off; he fought for transparency in county government, | ||||||
| 19 | leading efforts to expose corruption, waste, and unethical | ||||||
| 20 | activities; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Rep. Richard Morthland has had a career as an | ||||||

| 1 | educator and family farmer; he received his bachelors degree | ||||||
| 2 | from St. Ambrose University and is pursuing a second masters | ||||||
| 3 | degree and has taught courses at Black Hawk College in Moline | ||||||
| 4 | where he is currently a professor; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Rep. Richard Morthland is married to Betsey and is | ||||||
| 6 | a father of 2 daughters; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 8 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 9 | we congratulate Rep. Richard Morthland on his service in the | ||||||
| 10 | Illinois House of Representatives and wish him much success in | ||||||
| 11 | his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to Rep. Richard Morthland as an expression of our | ||||||
| 14 | respect and esteem.
