| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly wish | ||||||
| 3 | to honor and congratulate State Representative Angelo "Skip" | ||||||
| 4 | Saviano on his 20 years of service to the people of Illinois | ||||||
| 5 | and the 77th Representative District; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was born in Chicago | ||||||
| 7 | and later moved to Elmwood Park where he was raised and is | ||||||
| 8 | currently raising his family; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano began his career in | ||||||
| 10 | 1989 when elected as the Leyden Township Supervisor and served | ||||||
| 11 | for 4 years before being elected to the Illinois General | ||||||
| 12 | Assembly; he took office in January 1993; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was appointed | ||||||
| 14 | chairman of the Registration and Regulation Committee in 1995, | ||||||
| 15 | and was reappointed to this chairmanship in 1997, becoming the | ||||||
| 16 | first member of a minority caucus to hold the title of chairman | ||||||
| 17 | in recent history; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was instrumental in | ||||||
| 19 | many local projects including the Franklin Park Underpass; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, By the Governor's appointment, Representative | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | "Skip" Saviano was appointed to the Guardian and Advocacy | ||||||
| 2 | Commission in 2007; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, By appointment of the 4 legislator leaders of the | ||||||
| 4 | Illinois General Assembly, Representative "Skip" Saviano was | ||||||
| 5 | appointed co-chair of the Joint Committee on Administrative | ||||||
| 6 | Rules (JCAR) in 2009; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was known to be a | ||||||
| 8 | staunch advocate for those constituents with special needs, | ||||||
| 9 | most notably, his accomplishments with protecting the rights of | ||||||
| 10 | men, women, and children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum | ||||||
| 11 | Disorder; he was named the AutismOne Legislator of the Year | ||||||
| 12 | because of his efforts; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was continuously | ||||||
| 14 | recognized for his work on behalf of the working class and was | ||||||
| 15 | a known friend to labor organizations; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has been the key | ||||||
| 17 | negotiator on numerous amounts of key legislation and has | ||||||
| 18 | consistently worked across the aisle for the betterment of the | ||||||
| 19 | State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has been awarded | ||||||
| 21 | hundreds of distinctions and honors including the Illinois | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Association of Chiefs of Police Legislator of the Year, | ||||||
| 2 | Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois Legislator of the Year, | ||||||
| 3 | Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans Joseph Cardinal | ||||||
| 4 | Bernardin Humanitarian of the Year, and the NEDSRA and People | ||||||
| 5 | with Disabilities Legislator of the Year; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano received the 2012 | ||||||
| 7 | Golden Horseshoe Lifetime Achievement Award for this complete | ||||||
| 8 | perseverance and commitment to the People of the State of | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has always | ||||||
| 11 | maintained an "open-door" policy and he has always welcomed any | ||||||
| 12 | constituent to visit his office; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has demonstrated a | ||||||
| 14 | deep commitment to both his district and constituents, and has | ||||||
| 15 | earned a reputation as someone who will persistently seek out | ||||||
| 16 | answers and results; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano is an exceptional | ||||||
| 18 | chef known throughout the entire State and has served as a | ||||||
| 19 | celebrity chef for many organizations; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has thrown the end | ||||||
| 21 | of session party for several years to show his appreciation for | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | all of the work and dedication staff puts into the legislative | ||||||
| 2 | process; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 4 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 5 | Representative "Skip" Saviano has demonstrated a deep | ||||||
| 6 | commitment to both his district and constituents, and has | ||||||
| 7 | earned a reputation as someone who will persistently seek out | ||||||
| 8 | answers and results; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, Representative "Skip" Saviano will be sorely | ||||||
| 10 | missed in Springfield and throughout the 77th district, and the | ||||||
| 11 | Illinois General Assembly wishes him success in his future | ||||||
| 12 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to Representative Angelo "Skip" Saviano as an | ||||||
| 15 | expression of our esteem and respect.
