| 2 | WHEREAS, Building awareness and promoting a positive | ||||||
| 3 | impression of construction
trade crafts and enabling the | ||||||
| 4 | development of a talent pipeline between the industry and the | ||||||
| 5 | workforce of the
future is important for the success of the | ||||||
| 6 | industry; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Currently, Manufacture/Craft Your Future campaign | ||||||
| 8 | members are
scheduling presentation opportunities with | ||||||
| 9 | regional chambers of commerce, Rotary Clubs,
and other | ||||||
| 10 | community groups as well as meeting with school district | ||||||
| 11 | superintendents across
St. Clair, Madison, and Monroe Counties | ||||||
| 12 | to arrange presentations with teachers,
guidance counselors, | ||||||
| 13 | students, and parents; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Annually, a metro construction career expo is held | ||||||
| 15 | by Southern Illinois
Builders Association and the Southern | ||||||
| 16 | Illinois Construction Advancement Program in
Belleville to | ||||||
| 17 | address an acute workforce shortage in the construction | ||||||
| 18 | industry; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The construction industry workforce has thousands | ||||||
| 20 | of individuals retiring in the coming years, which
will create | ||||||
| 21 | numerous openings within the industry in Illinois; it will be | ||||||
| 22 | difficult to
fill all the jobs unless the current and future | ||||||

| 1 | workforce is educated about the well-paid
jobs that will be | ||||||
| 2 | available; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 4 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 5 | declare November 3, 2016 as Construction Craft Day in the State | ||||||
| 6 | of Illinois to encourage citizens to learn more about careers | ||||||
| 7 | in the craft of construction; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to the Southern Illinois Builders Association CEO, | ||||||
| 10 | Donna Richter.
