| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The conviction of former Governor George Ryan and | ||||||
| 3 | the arrest and pending trial of former Governor Rod Blagojevich | ||||||
| 4 | have caused a crisis of confidence of Illinois citizens and | ||||||
| 5 | taxpayers in their government; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Former Governor Rod Blagojevich was accused, | ||||||
| 7 | among other things, of delaying the disbursement of grants in | ||||||
| 8 | order to obtain political contributions and of committing other | ||||||
| 9 | abuses of State power; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 11 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | the Auditor General is directed pursuant to Sections 3-2 and | ||||||
| 13 | 3-5 of the Illinois State Auditing Act to conduct an audit of | ||||||
| 14 | all grants administered by the Department of Human Services | ||||||
| 15 | during the Blagojevich administration, specifically from | ||||||
| 16 | January 13, 2003 to January 29, 2009, including without | ||||||
| 17 | limitation lag times in disbursement of grant amounts; and be | ||||||
| 18 | it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That the Auditor General commence this audit as | ||||||
| 20 | soon as possible and report the findings and recommendations | ||||||
| 21 | upon completion in accordance with the Illinois State Auditing | ||||||
| 22 | Act; and be it further

| 1 | RESOLVED, That the Department of Human Services shall | ||||||
| 2 | provide all needed information that the Auditor General deems | ||||||
| 3 | necessary; and be it further
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, That the Auditor General, upon finding any | ||||||
| 5 | incident of suspected corruption, shall notify the Attorney | ||||||
| 6 | General; and be it further
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be delivered to | ||||||
| 8 | the Auditor General and the Secretary of Human Services.
