2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joanna | ||||||
4 | Sojka; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Joanna Sojka attended Northwestern University, | ||||||
6 | where she studied economics, political science, and | ||||||
7 | international studies and earned her Master of Science in | ||||||
8 | Administration and Social Policy; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Joanna Sojka was employed as Coordinator of | ||||||
10 | Business and Financial Services at the University of Illinois | ||||||
11 | at Chicago; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Joanna Sojka was elected to serve as the 7th Ward | ||||||
13 | Alderman in Des Plaines in May of 2013; as Alderman, she served | ||||||
14 | as Chair of the Public Works Committee, Vice-Chair of the | ||||||
15 | Community Services Committee, and member of the Building Codes | ||||||
16 | Committee; she also served as City Liaison of the Board of | ||||||
17 | Trustees History Center; and

18 | WHEREAS, As Alderman, Joanna Sojka was well known by her | ||||||
19 | peers and constituents for her enthusiasm, her vast community | ||||||
20 | and professional knowledge, and her great dedication to Des | ||||||
21 | Plaines' 7th Ward and its diverse residents; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of | ||||||
4 | Joanna Sojka; and be it further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Joanna Sojka as an expression of our | ||||||
7 | sympathy.
