2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Rosalind | ||||||
4 | Kline-Thomas on the occasion of earning the Golden Apple Award | ||||||
5 | for Teaching Excellence from the Golden Apple Foundation; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Since 1986, the Golden Apple Foundation has | ||||||
7 | recognized outstanding Chicago-area educators who make a | ||||||
8 | difference in the lives of their students; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Kline-Thomas earned a bachelor's degree | ||||||
10 | in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of | ||||||
11 | Technology and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Spelman | ||||||
12 | College; she is also a graduate of the School of Education and | ||||||
13 | Social Policy's NU-TEACH alternative certification program and | ||||||
14 | a current student in the Master of Science in Education | ||||||
15 | program; and

16 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Kline-Thomas is a former corporate buyer | ||||||
17 | and engineering major; with the help of the NU-TEACH program, | ||||||
18 | she gave up a successful career in the corporate world and | ||||||
19 | changed careers in order to fulfill a lifelong dream of | ||||||
20 | becoming a teacher; she currently serves as a mathematics | ||||||
21 | teacher and chair of the math department at the Michele Clark | ||||||
22 | Academic Prep High School in Chicago; and

1 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Kline-Thomas received the prestigious | ||||||
2 | Golden Apple Award in only her 2nd year of teaching, a | ||||||
3 | testament to her dedication and talent; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, As a Golden Apple Award recipient, Rosalind | ||||||
5 | Kline-Thomas will receive a tuition-free, 6-month sabbatical | ||||||
6 | to study at Northwestern University and a $3,000 cash award; | ||||||
7 | she will also become a fellow of the Golden Apple Academy of | ||||||
8 | Educators; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Rosalind Kline-Thomas serves as a model of hard | ||||||
10 | work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
11 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
13 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
14 | congratulate Rosalind Kline-Thomas on the occasion of earning | ||||||
15 | the Golden Apple Award and wish her continued success and | ||||||
16 | happiness in the future; and be it further

18 | presented to Rosalind Kline-Thomas as a symbol of our esteem | ||||||
