| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Edwards County Farm
| ||||||
| 4 | Bureau (ECFB) on the occasion of its 100th anniversary on | ||||||
| 5 | November 10, 2018; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The ECFB was founded in 1918 and became affiliated | ||||||
| 7 | with the Illinois Agricultural Association in 1920, the | ||||||
| 8 | statewide farm bureau; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, From the 1920s through the 1940s, the ECFB | ||||||
| 10 | continued their work to support agricultural communities with a | ||||||
| 11 | variety of projects, including eradicating bovine | ||||||
| 12 | tuberculosis, starting the Anti Chicken Theft Association, and | ||||||
| 13 | purchasing a soil testing lab; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, From 1968 through 1974, the ECFB celebrated its | ||||||
| 15 | 50th anniversary; in 1979, at the annual meeting, membership | ||||||
| 16 | voted 82% in favor of a new building
program; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, In 1995, the ECFB Board of Directors created the | ||||||
| 18 | successful Ag in the Classroom program to be implemented in | ||||||
| 19 | classrooms around the county; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Robert Mason retired as manager in 1999 after 41 | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | years of service; later on, "Bob's Tree was created to honor | ||||||
| 2 | his years of service; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, In 2007, the ECFB achieved 105.72% membership | ||||||
| 4 | growth, making them the top county in Illinois for membership | ||||||
| 5 | growth for the 2006-2007 farm bureau year; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, In 2018 at the Illinois Farm Bureau annual | ||||||
| 7 | meeting, the ECFB was awarded the newly established New
Horizon | ||||||
| 8 | Award for their social media program, Ag Proud, that features | ||||||
| 9 | short videos and stories
about local farmers; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, On November 10, 2018, the Edwards County Farm | ||||||
| 11 | Bureau "Gathering of Members" will be
the 100th annual meeting | ||||||
| 12 | of the organization; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 15 | congratulate the Edwards County Farm
Bureau on its 100th | ||||||
| 16 | anniversary and wish them many more successful years; and be it | ||||||
| 17 | further

| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the ECFB as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
