| 2 | WHEREAS, Adam Lizakowski, poet and teacher, completed | ||||||
| 3 | publication on his most recent
book, "40 Listow Poetyckich" in | ||||||
| 4 | May of 2014; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Living in the United States since 1982, Adam | ||||||
| 6 | Lizakowski has been contributing to the
written word for over | ||||||
| 7 | 30 years, penning works of thoughtful poetry, and reaching many | ||||||
| 8 | different
audiences with his work translated into over half a | ||||||
| 9 | dozen languages; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Adam Lizakowski was awarded the Marek Hlasko Prize | ||||||
| 11 | for Poetry in 1990, the
Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit by | ||||||
| 12 | the President of the Republic of Poland in 2012, and many other | ||||||
| 13 | accolades over the course of his career; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Adam Lizakowski's book, "Chicago, City of Belief" | ||||||
| 15 | was chosen as Book of the Year by
the United Nations | ||||||
| 16 | Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, Polish
| ||||||
| 17 | Division, in 2008; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Along with the success he enjoys as a celebrated | ||||||
| 19 | author, Adam Lizakowski gives back to
his community as the | ||||||
| 20 | director of the Polish Arts and Poetry Association in Chicago, | ||||||
| 21 | and is a
mentor and teacher to many; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Adam Lizakowski is an important figure in the | ||||||
| 2 | Polish community of Chicago, furthering
cultural understanding | ||||||
| 3 | between two places with deep and meaningful ties; therefore, be | ||||||
| 4 | it

| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 6 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 7 | we do hereby recognize and
extend our congratulations to Adam | ||||||
| 8 | Lizakowski on his recent publication and wish him the best
in | ||||||
| 9 | his future literary endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of the resolution be | ||||||
