HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Adam Lizakowski, poet and teacher, completed
3publication on his most recent book, "40 Listow Poetyckich" in
4May of 2014; and
5 WHEREAS, Living in the United States since 1982, Adam
6Lizakowski has been contributing to the written word for over
730 years, penning works of thoughtful poetry, and reaching many
8different audiences with his work translated into over half a
9dozen languages; and
10 WHEREAS, Adam Lizakowski was awarded the Marek Hlasko Prize
11for Poetry in 1990, the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit by
12the President of the Republic of Poland in 2012, and many other
13accolades over the course of his career; and
14 WHEREAS, Adam Lizakowski's book, "Chicago, City of Belief"
15was chosen as Book of the Year by the United Nations
16Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, Polish
17Division, in 2008; and
18 WHEREAS, Along with the success he enjoys as a celebrated
19author, Adam Lizakowski gives back to his community as the
20director of the Polish Arts and Poetry Association in Chicago,
21and is a mentor and teacher to many; and

1 WHEREAS, Adam Lizakowski is an important figure in the
2Polish community of Chicago, furthering cultural understanding
3between two places with deep and meaningful ties; therefore, be
4it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we do hereby recognize and extend our congratulations to Adam
8Lizakowski on his recent publication and wish him the best in
9his future literary endeavors; and be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of the resolution be
11presented to Adam Lizakowski as an expression of our esteem and
12respect.
