2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rosetta | ||||||
4 | "Aunt Rose" Ellis Hopson of Chicago, who passed away on | ||||||
5 | September 7, 2018; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson was born in Yazoo County, | ||||||
7 | Mississippi to Bennie and Josie Ellis; she was raised in | ||||||
8 | Chicago and committed to her faith while attending Jericho | ||||||
9 | Missionary Baptist Church; she attended Brainard Elementary, | ||||||
10 | Crane Technical High School, and Chicago City Junior College; | ||||||
11 | as a young adult, she attended the King David Missionary | ||||||
12 | Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher; | ||||||
13 | she married Carl Hopson in 1966; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson retired from the State of Illinois | ||||||
15 | Department of Human Services after 33 years of service; as a | ||||||
16 | caseworker, she provided relief to the poor, and she assisted | ||||||
17 | fellow co-workers as a union steward; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson was committed to serving others | ||||||
19 | through work, ministry, and home life; she enjoyed quilting, | ||||||
20 | bowling, gardening, traveling, visiting the sick, dining, and | ||||||
21 | reading; and

1 | WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
2 | husband, Carl, her son Benji, and her sister, Christine Elicke; | ||||||
3 | and

4 | WHEREAS, Rosetta Hopson is survived by her daughters, | ||||||
5 | Angela Carlise and Crystal JoEllen; her brothers-in-law, | ||||||
6 | Ronald (Grace) Elicke, C.W. Hopson, Roy (Cleo) Hopson, and | ||||||
7 | Emmett Hopson; her niece, Sharon Joyce Denise Elicke; her | ||||||
8 | nephew, James Steven Elicke; her great-nieces and | ||||||
9 | great-nephews; her godson, Quincy Johnson; her goddaughter, | ||||||
10 | Brendia McGee; and her many relatives and dear friends; | ||||||
11 | therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
13 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
14 | mourn the passing of Rosetta "Aunt Rose" Ellis Hopson and | ||||||
15 | extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all | ||||||
16 | who knew and loved her; and be it further
