| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Derrick | ||||||
| 4 | Booth, Jr. of Peoria, who passed away on May 24, 2014; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Derrick Booth, Jr. was born on January 6, 1992 to | ||||||
| 6 | Mecca Taylor and Derrick Booth, Sr.; he was a 2010 graduate of | ||||||
| 7 | Manual Academy and attended Illinois Central College and the | ||||||
| 8 | Job Corps, receiving a certification in culinary arts; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "DJ", Derrick Booth, Jr. | ||||||
| 10 | had a love for all things culinary which grew out of his work | ||||||
| 11 | with his grandmother, Yvonne, at Booth Rental Catering; he | ||||||
| 12 | worked for Steak 'n Shake, Bob Evans, and most recently with | ||||||
| 13 | the South Side Mission; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Derrick Booth, Jr. was a member of St. Paul | ||||||
| 15 | Baptist Church, where he served on the audio/visual and youth | ||||||
| 16 | ministries; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Derrick Booth, Jr. is survived by his father and | ||||||
| 18 | stepmother, Derrick and State Representative Jehan Booth, Sr.; | ||||||
| 19 | his mother and step-father, Mecca and Kevin Beasley, Sr.; 2 | ||||||
| 20 | brothers, Chancellor Booth and Jeremiah Taylor; 2 sisters, | ||||||
| 21 | Kalia Beasley and Jianna Yvonne Booth; his grandparents, Rudy | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | and Yvonne Booth, Edward and Geraldine Jackson, Jr., and | ||||||
| 2 | Gilbert Taylor; and other family and friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 4 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 5 | we mourn the passing of Derrick Booth, Jr., and extend our | ||||||
| 6 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 7 | and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to the family of Derrick Booth, Jr. as an expression | ||||||
