| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Natalie | ||||||
| 4 | Rosenthal Seltzer of Park Ridge and Chicago, who passed away on | ||||||
| 5 | April 28, 2012; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, She was born August 12, 1921; she was a life-long | ||||||
| 7 | Chicagoan and a 35-year resident of Park Ridge; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, She studied at the University of Chicago, earning | ||||||
| 9 | an A.B. degree in 1944 and a Masters degree from the School of | ||||||
| 10 | Social Service Administration in 1948; while a student at the | ||||||
| 11 | University of Chicago she met her husband of over 50 years, | ||||||
| 12 | Arthur Owen Seltzer, who was her economics instructor; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, She devoted her life to helping others; she was | ||||||
| 14 | appointed as an instructor at the University of Illinois | ||||||
| 15 | Chicago Campus in 1956 and as Professor and Head of the | ||||||
| 16 | Department of Medical Social Work in 1977, a position she held | ||||||
| 17 | until 1988, when she returned to the faculty; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, In retirement, she became absorbed in her passions | ||||||
| 19 | of travel and the arts, in particular the Lyric Opera of | ||||||
| 20 | Chicago; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Natalie Seltzer was the daughter of Hyman and Eva | ||||||
| 2 | Rosenthal, who predeceased her; she is survived by her loving | ||||||
| 3 | sister, Muriel Busch; her niece; and 4 nephews; therefore, be | ||||||
| 4 | it

| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 6 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 7 | we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of | ||||||
| 8 | Natalie Seltzer; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to the family of Natalie Seltzer as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 11 | sincere sympathy.
