HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Natalie
Rosenthal Seltzer of Park Ridge and Chicago, who passed away on
April 28, 2012; and
WHEREAS, She was born August 12, 1921; she was a life-long
Chicagoan and a 35-year resident of Park Ridge; and
WHEREAS, She studied at the University of Chicago, earning
an A.B. degree in 1944 and a Masters degree from the School of
Social Service Administration in 1948; while a student at the
University of Chicago she met her husband of over 50 years,
Arthur Owen Seltzer, who was her economics instructor; and
WHEREAS, She devoted her life to helping others; she was
appointed as an instructor at the University of Illinois
Chicago Campus in 1956 and as Professor and Head of the
Department of Medical Social Work in 1977, a position she held
until 1988, when she returned to the faculty; and
WHEREAS, In retirement, she became absorbed in her passions
of travel and the arts, in particular the Lyric Opera of
Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Natalie Seltzer was the daughter of Hyman and Eva
Rosenthal, who predeceased her; she is survived by her loving
sister, Muriel Busch; her niece; and 4 nephews; therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of
Natalie Seltzer; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Natalie Seltzer as a symbol of our
sincere sympathy.
