| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Donna Kei Lewis on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of her retirement as a teacher in East St. Louis | ||||||
| 5 | School District #189; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Donna Lewis is the daughter of Marcella Lewis | ||||||
| 7 | Phillips and Ronald L. Brown; she grew up in East St. Louis and | ||||||
| 8 | was educated in School District #189; after attending Dunbar | ||||||
| 9 | School, Webster School, and Rock Junior High School, she | ||||||
| 10 | graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1974; she | ||||||
| 11 | subsequently received her bachelor's degree in education from | ||||||
| 12 | Southern Illinois
University in 1978 and her master's degree in | ||||||
| 13 | education from McKendree University in 2005; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, During high school, Donna Lewis was employed at | ||||||
| 15 | the Catholic Day Care Program and Lessie
Bates Neighborhood | ||||||
| 16 | House during school hours; in 1979, she began working for the | ||||||
| 17 | City of Clayton, Missouri at the Social Security Office; later | ||||||
| 18 | that year, she was hired to teach children in East St. Louis | ||||||
| 19 | School District #189, where she has served pride and | ||||||
| 20 | distinction for 34.7 years; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Donna Lewis serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 22 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||

| 1 | Illinois; therefore, be it

| 2 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 3 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 4 | we congratulate Donna Kei Lewis on the occasion of her | ||||||
| 5 | retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement | ||||||
| 6 | years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 8 | presented to Donna Lewis as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
