| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Brennen | ||||||
| 4 | Chase Saele of New Lenox, who passed away on September 19, | ||||||
| 5 | 2026; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Brennen Saele, the son of Michael and Genesis | ||||||
| 7 | (Scapardine) Saele, was born in Oak Lawn on December 20, 2008; | ||||||
| 8 | he was a senior at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New | ||||||
| 9 | Lenox, where he challenged himself with advanced placement and | ||||||
| 10 | honors classes and served as a Peer Buddy with the Best Buddies | ||||||
| 11 | Program; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Brennen Saele loved watching high school football | ||||||
| 13 | games and cheering for his younger brother and friends, and he | ||||||
| 14 | proudly dressed for every home-game theme; he enjoyed fishing, | ||||||
| 15 | music, and concerts and treasured the time he spent with his | ||||||
| 16 | family and friends; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Brennen Saele was a kind-hearted young man who | ||||||
| 18 | loved deeply, laughed often, and always seemed to have a smile | ||||||
| 19 | on his face; he had a talent for making people feel welcome and | ||||||
| 20 | loved; his infectious laugh and joyful spirit will forever be | ||||||
| 21 | remembered by those who were lucky enough to know him; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Brennen Saele's tragic passing has emphasized the | ||||||
| 2 | need for an increased focus on the rare genetic condition | ||||||
| 3 | vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS), which causes fragility | ||||||
| 4 | of blood vessels and organs and can result in life-threatening | ||||||
| 5 | complications regardless of age; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Brennen Saele's family hopes his story will | ||||||
| 7 | inspire awareness, education, and support for vEDS research, | ||||||
| 8 | helping to protect other families from such a tragic loss; his | ||||||
| 9 | life reminds others to "Live Like Brennen" by loving fiercely, | ||||||
| 10 | including others, having fun, and making memories; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Brennen Saele was the brother of Landen Saele; | ||||||
| 12 | the grandson of Marty and Sheila Saele and the late Rita | ||||||
| 13 | Gaulin; the nephew of Gina (Frank) Lacny, Pete (Sheri) Saele, | ||||||
| 14 | Jason (Christine) Scapardine, and Angela (Mark D'Andrea) | ||||||
| 15 | Scapardine; the cousin of Frankie, Marissa, and Andrew Lacny, | ||||||
| 16 | Peter, Gia, and Carina Saele, Henry and Kate Scapardine, and | ||||||
| 17 | Austin D'Andrea; and the friend of many; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 19 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 20 | we mourn the passing of Brennen Chase Saele and extend our | ||||||
| 21 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 22 | and loved him; and be it further | ||||||
