| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Betty Houston on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of her retirement after 44 years of service with | ||||||
| 5 | the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Betty Houston was hired as the 3rd employee of the | ||||||
| 7 | Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board in 1968 as a clerk | ||||||
| 8 | stenographer; she has served in several accounting and | ||||||
| 9 | executive positions during her time with the Board; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Betty Houston was an instrumental employee with | ||||||
| 11 | the Board when it developed a standard basic training program | ||||||
| 12 | for all police officers within the State and has signed off on | ||||||
| 13 | the certification of over 100,000 officers during her tenure; | ||||||
| 14 | she has contributed to several major advancements at the Board | ||||||
| 15 | over the years, including the development of a computerized | ||||||
| 16 | database of all police officers in the State, as well as | ||||||
| 17 | Internet-based tactical training programs; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Betty Houston has enjoyed several elements of her | ||||||
| 19 | job and made numerous friends assisting local government | ||||||
| 20 | administrations process reimbursement claims, while treating | ||||||
| 21 | everyone with a balance of personal and professional respect; | ||||||
| 22 | her coworkers from the office have also become close personal | ||||||

| 1 | friends, with whom she collaborated to enter several trees in | ||||||
| 2 | the Memorial Hospital Festival of Trees, winning the Chairman's | ||||||
| 3 | Award in 2009; she has also competed in the Abe's Amble 10K | ||||||
| 4 | race, in which she finished with a faster time than the Board's | ||||||
| 5 | Director in 2010; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Betty Houston plans to enjoy her retirement by | ||||||
| 7 | spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren; | ||||||
| 8 | and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Betty Houston serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 10 | integrity, teamwork, and dedication to the people of the State | ||||||
| 11 | of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we congratulate Betty Huston on the occasion of her retirement, | ||||||
| 15 | thank her for her service to the citizens and law enforcement | ||||||
| 16 | of this State, and wish her many happy and healthy retirement | ||||||
| 17 | years; and be it further

| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Betty Houston as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 20 | respect.
