| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate St. Francis of Assisi | ||||||
| 4 | Parish in Teutopolis on the occasion of its 175th anniversary; | ||||||
| 5 | and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis was | ||||||
| 7 | established when German Catholic immigrants settled in the | ||||||
| 8 | Teutopolis area and constructed a brick church in the early | ||||||
| 9 | 19th century; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis, known | ||||||
| 11 | as St. Peter's Church at the time, welcomed Franciscan priests | ||||||
| 12 | from Germany into the community in 1858; these priests helped | ||||||
| 13 | create their monastery and the St. Joseph's College for the | ||||||
| 14 | education of the youth of Teutopolis; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis has | ||||||
| 16 | undergone many renovations throughout the years, including | ||||||
| 17 | major renovations in 1901, 1950, and 1969; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis | ||||||
| 19 | contains incredible architecture, altars, and stained-glass | ||||||
| 20 | windows depicting the life of St. Francis; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis will | ||||||
| 2 | continue to be a key contributor to Teutopolis as it continues | ||||||
| 3 | its mission of spreading faith; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 5 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 6 | we congratulate St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Teutopolis for | ||||||
| 7 | 175 years of dedication to their mission and their community | ||||||
| 8 | and for being a pillar of the Teutopolis community; and be it | ||||||
| 9 | further | ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to the staff of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in | ||||||
| 12 | Teutopolis as a symbol of our esteem and respect. | ||||||
