HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Elder
Micheal Williams, who passed away on September 5, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Micheal Williams, the son of Mary Louise
Williams, Charlie P. Williams, and Lee Moore, was born on June
20, 1950; he committed to his faith at an early age at New
Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend
Hightower; he attended Manual High School in Peoria until
leaving to pursue full-time work and was proud to earn his GED
with the highest scores in class in 1998; he married Deborah
"Tina" Williams early in life, and they remained friends after
their marriage ended; he later married Hazel Williams, his
life partner of 45 years; and
WHEREAS, Micheal Williams dedicated 30 years of service to
Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1999; he remained active in
retirement and worked for Carquest Auto Parts until its
closure in 2014; he then served as a crossing guard for Peoria
Public Schools, earning several awards and holding the
position until his passing; and
WHEREAS, Micheal Williams was ordained in the 1970s and
returned to the ministry in the early 2000s; he served as

assistant pastor under the leadership of his best friend,
Bishop Leroy Smith Jr., at the Church of the Living God, where
he was a Young People's Progressive Union (Y.P.P.U.) leader,
member of the male chorus, and Sunday school teacher
affectionately known as "the walking Bible" due to his
impressive knowledge of scripture; he continued his service as
an assistant at Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church
under the leadership of Pastor Alvin Riley Sr.; he also served
as president of the Unshackled Program; and
WHEREAS, Micheal Williams deeply loved his family and was
proud of his children; he found joy in attending his
grandchildren's events, celebrating their accomplishments, and
supporting them in all their endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Micheal Williams was a hardworking man of faith
who enjoyed life's simple pleasures; he will be remembered for
his ministry, friendship, and devotion to his family; and
WHEREAS, Micheal Williams was preceded in death by his
parents; his children, Angela Waller and Maulana Waller Sr.;
his grandchildren, Brettney Young and Houston Hobson; and his
siblings, Marie Williams, Hurley Williams, and Terry Williams;
and
WHEREAS, Micheal Williams is survived by his wife, Hazel;

his sons, Terence Young and Aaron Waller; his daughters,
Tamika Williams, Towanna (Kim) Wyatt, Micah (Larry) Davis,
Corine (Kerry) Walker, and Erika Waller; 30 grandchildren; 46
great-grandchildren; his siblings, Betty Williams, twin sister
Michelle (Barney) Carter, Ronnie (Lisa) Williams, and Shirley
Parker; his godchildren, Carla Reed, Tawanda Lowmack, Chantay
Gray, Erica Collins, Kayla Valentine, and Travelle Massy; and
many nieces, nephews, siblings-in-law, cousins, extended
family members, church family members, and special friends;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we mourn the passing of Elder Micheal Williams and extend our
sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
and loved him; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Micheal Williams as an expression
of our deepest sympathy.
