HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Peter J.
4Campanella Sr. of Wadsworth, who passed away on July 23, 2026;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Peter Campanella was the owner of Campanella &
7Sons, Inc. for more than 55 years, initially taking over after
8the death of his father; he led his children into the
9enterprise, and now in its 71st year, the family business
10carries on in the values and work ethic displayed every day by
11his father and himself; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Peter Campanella was dedicated to helping his
13community, serving as Newport Township Highway Commissioner
14for more than 20 years, a member of the Township Officials of
15Illinois, a volunteer firefighter of the Newport Township Fire
16Protection District (NTFPD) for more than 40 years, and a fire
17trustee of NTFPD; he was also a member of St. Patrick's
18Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council and was
19a large contributor to all capital improvements on the campus;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Peter Campanella was a gifted storyteller who
22lived life well and was known for his belly laugh and being the

1life of every party, especially at the large pig roasts and
2parties held at the family home; he will be remembered for his
3stories, true or otherwise, and his service to his community;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Campanella is survived by his wife of 65
6years, Patricia; his children, Ann (Mark) Campanella, Peter
7(Tina) Campanella Jr., Suzanne (Kevin) Zupec, Mary (Larry)
8Kenar, and Rocco (Liz) Campanella; 11 grandchildren; six
9great-grandchildren; his brother, John Campanella; and many
10nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn the passing of Peter J. Campanella Sr. and extend our
14sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
15and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Peter Campanella as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
