| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Peter J. | ||||||
| 4 | Campanella Sr. of Wadsworth, who passed away on July 23, 2026; | ||||||
| 5 | and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Peter Campanella was the owner of Campanella & | ||||||
| 7 | Sons, Inc. for more than 55 years, initially taking over after | ||||||
| 8 | the death of his father; he led his children into the | ||||||
| 9 | enterprise, and now in its 71st year, the family business | ||||||
| 10 | carries on in the values and work ethic displayed every day by | ||||||
| 11 | his father and himself; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Peter Campanella was dedicated to helping his | ||||||
| 13 | community, serving as Newport Township Highway Commissioner | ||||||
| 14 | for more than 20 years, a member of the Township Officials of | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois, a volunteer firefighter of the Newport Township Fire | ||||||
| 16 | Protection District (NTFPD) for more than 40 years, and a fire | ||||||
| 17 | trustee of NTFPD; he was also a member of St. Patrick's | ||||||
| 18 | Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council and was | ||||||
| 19 | a large contributor to all capital improvements on the campus; | ||||||
| 20 | and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Peter Campanella was a gifted storyteller who | ||||||
| 22 | lived life well and was known for his belly laugh and being the | ||||||

| 1 | life of every party, especially at the large pig roasts and | ||||||
| 2 | parties held at the family home; he will be remembered for his | ||||||
| 3 | stories, true or otherwise, and his service to his community; | ||||||
| 4 | and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Peter Campanella is survived by his wife of 65 | ||||||
| 6 | years, Patricia; his children, Ann (Mark) Campanella, Peter | ||||||
| 7 | (Tina) Campanella Jr., Suzanne (Kevin) Zupec, Mary (Larry) | ||||||
| 8 | Kenar, and Rocco (Liz) Campanella; 11 grandchildren; six | ||||||
| 9 | great-grandchildren; his brother, John Campanella; and many | ||||||
| 10 | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we mourn the passing of Peter J. Campanella Sr. and extend our | ||||||
| 14 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 15 | and loved him; and be it further | ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Peter Campanella as an expression | ||||||
| 18 | of our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
