2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Walter | ||||||
4 | Arnold Jones Sr.; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Walter Jones was born to Mary Louise and Russell | ||||||
6 | Donald Jones Jr. on November 7, 1952; he was a native of Morgan | ||||||
7 | Park; he first attended school at Holy Name of Mary Catholic | ||||||
8 | Church, which was founded by his grandmother, Grace Agnes | ||||||
9 | Spillman, other relatives, and their Morgan Park neighbors; he | ||||||
10 | then attended Saint Dorothy's Catholic School and Leo Catholic | ||||||
11 | School before graduating from Morgan Park High School in 1970; | ||||||
12 | he earned his Psychology degree from Chicago State University; | ||||||
13 | he married Lesa in 2001, and they both brought two children | ||||||
14 | into their union and continued building their family together; | ||||||
15 | and

16 | WHEREAS, Walter Jones worked at UPS and Sherwin Williams | ||||||
17 | before beginning his career at the YMCA of Metropolitan | ||||||
18 | Chicago; after retiring from the YMCA, he managed the dock of | ||||||
19 | 300 North LaSalle; he also owned his own renovation company; | ||||||
20 | and

21 | WHEREAS, Walter Jones was a novelist and published his | ||||||
22 | novel Blue: A Story of Extraordinary Courage in 2014; and

1 | WHEREAS, Walter Jones was a remarkable musician with a | ||||||
2 | great voice, a gift for the guitar, and a penchant for | ||||||
3 | songwriting; he was a builder who loved using his hands to add | ||||||
4 | character to his home and others; he was also an artist who | ||||||
5 | used any medium available; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Walter Jones will be remembered for his strong | ||||||
7 | work ethic, integrity, honor, and love; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Walter Jones was preceded in death by his | ||||||
9 | parents; his brother, Russell Donald Jones III; and his son, | ||||||
10 | Walter Arnold Jones Jr.; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Walter Jones is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
12 | children, Nicole, Jason, Kenneth, Adena, Eteria, and Marcus; | ||||||
13 | his many grandchildren; his brothers, Kenneth and Gerald; his | ||||||
14 | sisters, Rebecca (John) and Dorothy; his extended family; and | ||||||
15 | his many friends; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
17 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
18 | we mourn the passing of
Walter Arnold Jones Sr. and extend our | ||||||
19 | sincere
condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
20 | and loved
him; and be it further
