HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, September 17, 2026 marks the 239th anniversary of
3the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of
4America at the Constitutional Convention; and
 
5    WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to accord official
6recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable
7anniversary and to the patriotic celebrations that will
8commemorate the occasion; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The General John Stark Chapter of the National
10Society Daughters of the American Revolution are a diverse
11group of patriotic women who share a common bond of heritage
12with an ancestor who served or aided the American cause during
13the American Revolution, and these members also share a
14passion for God, home, and country; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States has stood
16the test of time and remains an example to the rest of the
17world of an effective framework for a free society; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Public Law 915, passed by the 84th Congress in
191956, authorizes the President of the United States to
20designate September 17 through September 23 as Constitution
21Week; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we recognize the week of September 17 through September 23,
42026 as Constitution Week; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the General John Stark Chapter of the National
7Society Daughters of the American Revolution as a symbol of
8our esteem and respect.
