HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, September 17, 2026 marks the 239th anniversary of
the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of
America at the Constitutional Convention; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to accord official
recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable
anniversary and to the patriotic celebrations that will
commemorate the occasion; and
WHEREAS, The General John Stark Chapter of the National
Society Daughters of the American Revolution are a diverse
group of patriotic women who share a common bond of heritage
with an ancestor who served or aided the American cause during
the American Revolution, and these members also share a
passion for God, home, and country; and
WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States has stood
the test of time and remains an example to the rest of the
world of an effective framework for a free society; and
WHEREAS, Public Law 915, passed by the 84th Congress in
1956, authorizes the President of the United States to
designate September 17 through September 23 as Constitution
Week; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we recognize the week of September 17 through September 23,
2026 as Constitution Week; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the General John Stark Chapter of the National
Society Daughters of the American Revolution as a symbol of
our esteem and respect.
