| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Robert L. Johnson, Sr. on | ||||||
| 4 | 20 years as a Trustee with the Peoria Park District Board; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Robert Johnson, Sr. was appointed to the Board as | ||||||
| 6 | Southern District Trustee in 1995; he was re-elected
in 1997, | ||||||
| 7 | 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2013; he served as Vice-President of the | ||||||
| 8 | Board in
1999, 2006, and 2011; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Robert Johnson, Sr. has a record of community | ||||||
| 10 | service through neighborhood associations and
school advisory | ||||||
| 11 | groups; he served as a member of the Illinois Association of | ||||||
| 12 | Park Districts' Joint Publication
Committee, the Joint | ||||||
| 13 | Distinguished Committee, and on the Program Committee of the | ||||||
| 14 | Illinois Association
of Park Districts; he currently serves on | ||||||
| 15 | the Riverfront Program and Policy Advisory Committee and has
| ||||||
| 16 | been a member since 2001; he served as Chairman of the Park | ||||||
| 17 | District Planning Committee, the
Finance Committee, and | ||||||
| 18 | currently serves as Chairman of the Recreation Advisory | ||||||
| 19 | Committee; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Robert Johnson, Sr. has successfully presented | ||||||
| 21 | grant requests to Illinois
Department of Natural Resources for | ||||||
| 22 | Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grants, including:
| ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Logan Park Basketball Courts and Picnic Shelters, $200,000; | ||||||
| 2 | Proctor Recreation Center Park and Water
Playground, $212,500; | ||||||
| 3 | Southtown/Carver Park Ball fields and Habideck, PHASE 11, | ||||||
| 4 | $200,000; and
Mossville Soccer, $393,700; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Robert Johnson, Sr. is an inductee of the African | ||||||
| 6 | American Hall of Fame Museum, Inc. and has
been recognized for | ||||||
| 7 | his efforts in conjunction with the development of the John | ||||||
| 8 | Gwynn Family Aquatic
Center and Park, Logan Park renovations, | ||||||
| 9 | and most recently, the Proctor Recreation Center Water
| ||||||
| 10 | Playground and Park; he is the recipient of the "1999 Citizen | ||||||
| 11 | of the Year Award" from Men of Theta Xi, Graduate Chapter Omega | ||||||
| 12 | Psi Phi Fraternity, recognizing outstanding community | ||||||
| 13 | leadership; in 2000,
he received the Dr. Martin Luther King, | ||||||
| 14 | Jr. Drum Major Award; in January of 2012, he was
awarded the | ||||||
| 15 | Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major Award for Cultural | ||||||
| 16 | Development; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, In 2001, Robert Johnson, Sr. received the | ||||||
| 18 | "Hometown Hero" award, presented by Peoria Area Convention and
| ||||||
| 19 | Visitors Bureau for his involvement in bringing the Illinois | ||||||
| 20 | Association of Park Districts convention to
Peoria with | ||||||
| 21 | approximately 3,000 participants for a 4-day convention; in | ||||||
| 22 | 2005, he was inducted into the South-West Kiwanis Club "The One | ||||||
| 23 | With the Dash"; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Robert Johnson, Sr. and his wife, Gail, have been | ||||||
| 2 | married for 38 years and have 4 children; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 4 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 5 | congratulate Robert L. Johnson, Sr. on 20 years as a Trustee | ||||||
| 6 | with the Peoria Park District Board, and we wish him many more | ||||||
| 7 | successful years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to Robert Johnson, Sr. as an expression of our esteem | ||||||
| 10 | and respect.
