| 2 | WHEREAS, The National Great Rivers Research and Education | ||||||
| 3 | Center (NGRREC) is dedicated to the study of great river | ||||||
| 4 | systems and the communities that use them and is a leader in | ||||||
| 5 | scholarly research, education, and outreach related to the | ||||||
| 6 | interconnectedness of large rivers, their floodplains, | ||||||
| 7 | watersheds, and their associated communities; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The NGRREC was created through a collaboration | ||||||
| 9 | between the University of Illinois and Lewis and Clark | ||||||
| 10 | Community College in 2002; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Since that time, the NGRREC has become a national | ||||||
| 12 | leader in disseminating research and developing policy related | ||||||
| 13 | to fresh water systems from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of | ||||||
| 14 | Mexico; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, The NGRREC is and continues to be an important | ||||||
| 16 | and critical entity serving Illinois constituents at many | ||||||
| 17 | levels; and

| 18 | WHEREAS, The NGRREC celebrated its 20th anniversary in | ||||||
| 19 | East Alton on October 27, 2022; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||

| 1 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 2 | we recognize the importance of the National Great Rivers | ||||||
| 3 | Research and Education Center (NGRREC) as a leader in fresh | ||||||
| 4 | water research and education; and be it further

| 5 | RESOLVED, That we congratulate Executive Director Dr. Gary | ||||||
| 6 | Rolfe and the NGRREC on its 20th anniversary; and be it further

| 7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 8 | presented to the NGRREC as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
