HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to honor the Shen Yun Performing Arts
show; and
WHEREAS, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world's premier
traditional Chinese dance and music company; and
WHEREAS, Shen Yun introduces audiences to a world of
heavenly realms, ancient heroes, and the themes of virtue,
compassion, and courage; and
WHEREAS, For 5,000 years of Chinese history, China's
divinely imparted culture, including Chinese dance, music, and
other art forms, was continuously refined as its elegance
developed; and
WHEREAS, The Shen Yun show aims to be a showcase of
traditional Chinese culture, a platform for cross-cultural
understanding between the East and West, and a unifying event
for all people interested in Chinese culture and performing
arts; and
WHEREAS, The State of Illinois prides itself on having a
thriving arts community, as well as audiences that truly

appreciate the beauty of our diversity; and
WHEREAS, Shen Yun shows will be held at the Rosemont
Theatre in Rosemont on February 13 and 14, 2016, the Sangamon
Auditorium in Springfield on February 24, 2016, the Coronado
Performing Arts Center in Rockford on March 11 and 12, 2016,
the Civic Opera House in Chicago on March 15, 2016, and the
Peoria Civic Center in Peoria on April 20, 2016; Shen Yun shows
are sponsored by the Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association, an
organization dedicated to the promotion and practice of the
principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" and
that endeavors to extend far and wide these most precious and
noble human ideals, and by Sound of Hope Radio, an independent
Chinese-language media company and a not-for-profit
organization dedicated to facilitating cross-cultural
communications between the East and West and assisting the
public in their search for valuable cultural knowledge;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
honor the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe, thank them for their
visits to the State of Illinois, and wish them continued
success in all their endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

our respect and esteem.
