| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the members of American | ||||||
| 4 | Legion Post 338 on the occasion of the organization's 90th | ||||||
| 5 | anniversary on April 16, 2014; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, American Legion Post 338 was chartered on April | ||||||
| 7 | 16, 1924; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, American Legion Post 338 is involved with numerous | ||||||
| 9 | activities and groups throughout the Westmont area, including | ||||||
| 10 | Boy Scout troop activities, Little League baseball teams, the | ||||||
| 11 | Memorial Day Parade and flag ceremony, Taste of Westmont, the | ||||||
| 12 | Red, White, and BBQ Memorial Day event, the Veteran's Day | ||||||
| 13 | ceremony at Ty Warner Park, various Westmont Chamber of | ||||||
| 14 | Commerce events, and the Westmont 911 Ceremony; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, American Legion Post 338 members routinely assist | ||||||
| 16 | veterans with transportation to Hines Veterans Administration | ||||||
| 17 | Hospital and other medical facilities; the Post also sponsors | ||||||
| 18 | the American Legion School Award Program, which honors selected | ||||||
| 19 | students under Patriotism and Citizenship at Cass Junior High | ||||||
| 20 | School and Eisenhower Junior High School in Darien and Westview | ||||||
| 21 | Hills Middle School and Westmont Junior High School in | ||||||
| 22 | Westmont; the Post also supports students at Westmont Senior | ||||||

| 1 | High School through its Scholarship Program; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of American Legion Post 338 serve as | ||||||
| 3 | models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people | ||||||
| 4 | of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 6 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 7 | we congratulate the members of American Legion Post 338 on the | ||||||
| 8 | occasion of the organization's 90th anniversary and wish them | ||||||
| 9 | continued success and happiness in the future; and be it | ||||||
| 10 | further

| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
