HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Christina "Chris" Kuberski on
4her outstanding leadership and service to Highland Community
5College and the citizens of northwestern Illinois throughout
6her distinguished career in higher education; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski was named the ninth president of
8Highland Community College in July 2020 after serving for five
9years as the college's executive vice president; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski's leadership and commitment to
11fostering a positive workplace culture helped Highland
12Community College be recognized for three consecutive years
13with the Best of the Region Community's Choice Award among
14employers with 101 to 500 employees; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski guided Highland Community College
16to national recognition from SmartAsset, ranking 59th among
17community colleges nationwide and first among community
18colleges in Illinois based on student success metrics,
19including retention rates, affordability, and
20student-to-faculty ratios; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski has transformed the campus of

1Highland by enhancing educational opportunities and student
2experiences, including the development of new welding and CNC
3machining laboratories, a nursing simulation hospital, a
4mobile medical unit, renovations to fine arts facilities,
5improved student spaces, a new welcome center, and a new
6testing center; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski has championed investments in
8innovative technologies and student support systems, including
9the implementation of DegreeWorks degree-planning software and
10the CourseLeaf catalog management system, helping students
11more effectively navigate their educational pathways; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski has demonstrated a strong
13commitment to academic excellence and institutional
14improvement through her service as a peer reviewer for the
15Higher Learning Commission and as a member of the Alliance for
16Innovation and Transformation; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski has remained actively engaged in
18her community through service on the boards of the Greater
19Freeport Partnership, Northwest Illinois Economic Development,
20and the Region 1 Planning Council; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski's leadership and service have been
22recognized through numerous honors, including the 2021 YWCA

1Women of Achievement Business Award, the 2025 Stephenson
2County Community Champion Award, and as one of Northwest
3Quarterly's "25 Most Interesting People"; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski's vision, dedication, and
5commitment to student success has made a lasting impact on
6Highland Community College, the Freeport region, and the State
7of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we commend Christina "Chris" Kuberski on her outstanding
11leadership and service to Highland Community College and the
12citizens of northwestern Illinois throughout her distinguished
13career in higher education and wish her continued success and
14happiness in all her future endeavors; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Chris Kuberski as a symbol of our respect and
17esteem.
