HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The concept of today's savings banks and savings
and loan associations has been in effect in the State of
Illinois since July 1, 1872, when the General Assembly passed
an act to enable a group of individuals to raise funds for loan
purposes among its members; and
WHEREAS, Savings banks have grown and prospered over the
years, becoming strong financial institutions that contribute
to the betterment of their communities in the process; and
WHEREAS, Hoyne Savings Bank of Chicago, chartered on
January 1, 1887, is celebrating 125 years of continuous service
to the community in 2012; and
WHEREAS, Hoyne Savings Bank has served as a bulwark of
confidence and strength for the entire Chicago community and
has weathered depressions, financial crises, and other
calamities that have plagued the nation throughout its 125
years of operation; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we congratulate the board and employees of Hoyne Savings Bank
on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the institution and

wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Hoyne Savings Bank as a symbol of our respect and
esteem.
