HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John J.
"Jack" Thelen of Antioch, who passed away on February 21, 2010;
and
WHEREAS, He was born May 25, 1950, in Woodstock, the son of
Verner and Mary Ann "Bunny"(nee Stoffel) Thelen; he had resided
in Pistakee Highlands and Spring Grove before settling in
Antioch; On January 20, 1973, he married Deborah Nesbit in St.
Louis, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Peter Church of Antioch,
past board member and past president of the Antioch Chamber of
Commerce, member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Antioch Rotary
Club, and member of the Northern Illinois Ready Mix & Materials
Association, Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete, and Wisconsin
Ready Mix Concrete Associations, the Boy Scouts of America
Troop #92 of Antioch, the Northern Illinois Shooters
Association and the Big Foot Archers, and a board member of the
State Bank of the Lakes for 21 years; and
WHEREAS, Since 1963 he was a co-owner of Thelen Sand &
Gravel; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Vern
Thelen; and a brother-in-law, Ross Berry; and
WHEREAS, He was the husband for 37 years of Debbie; the
father of John R. (Tami), Jessica M. Thelen, and Jennifer
(Patrick) Barton; the son of Mary Ann "Bunny" Thelen; the
grandfather of Taylor Kae, Jacob T., and Kylie E. Thelen and
Grace K. Barton; the brother of Mary Beth (Bob) Varak, Sue
(Warren) Schumacher, Tom (Paige) Thelen, Pete (Terry Childers)
Thelen, Steve (Diana) Thelen, Ann (Mark) Kroupa, Barb (Mark)
Miller, and Peg (Tom) Miles; the grandson of his maternal
grandparents, the late Jacob E. (Matilda) Stoffel, and his
paternal grandparents, the late John J. (Agatha) Thelen; the
son-in-law of Robert C. (Dorothy J.) Nesbit; and the
brother-in-law of Cyndi Parazak, Karen (Dan) Spalding, and Kim
(Gary) Martin and their families; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John
J. "Jack" Thelen; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of John J. "Jack" Thelen as a symbol of
our sincere sympathy.
