HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dennis Volling,
Antioch Fire Department Fire Chief and Chief of the First Fire
Protection District, on his retirement, April 30, 2010; and
WHEREAS, He started with the Antioch Fire Department on
June 27, 1966 and has been with the department almost 44 years;
and
WHEREAS, He has served as a Captain, Lieutenant, Chief
Engineer, Dive Master, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and has
served as Fire Chief since May 1, 1996; and
WHEREAS, He previously served under Chief Edgar Simonsen,
Chief Charles Maplethorpe, and Chief William Carney; he has
watched the department grow from a three-bay station behind the
Village Hall to a main station with two sub-stations; and
WHEREAS, Chief Volling oversees 85 members of the
department; the department provides fire protection for a
35-square mile area that includes Antioch Township and the
village of Antioch; and
WHEREAS, Chief Volling plans to enjoy time in northern

Wisconsin along with his wife; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
congratulate Dennis Volling on his retirement as Antioch Fire
Department Fire Chief, and wish him an enjoyable retirement;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Dennis Volling as a symbol of our respect and
esteem.
