| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate David "Dave" Wians on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as president of the Gladstone Park | ||||||
| 5 | Chamber of Commerce and commend him for his dedication to the | ||||||
| 6 | organization over the past 21 years; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Dave Wians earned his degree in Education from | ||||||
| 8 | Northern Illinois University; he married Demetria Kanelos in | ||||||
| 9 | 1978; he began living in Gladstone Park in 1985; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dave Wians worked for a life insurance company | ||||||
| 11 | from 1977 to 1981; he started his own State Farm agency in | ||||||
| 12 | 1981; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dave Wians has served as president of the | ||||||
| 14 | Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce for the past 21 years and | ||||||
| 15 | has been a member for 30 years; he has sponsored and | ||||||
| 16 | participated in many activities; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Dave Wians is also active in the | ||||||
| 18 | Edgebrook-Sauganash Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson Park | ||||||
| 19 | Chamber of Commerce; he is a past president of the Elk Grove | ||||||
| 20 | Village Jaycee Ambassador #163; with a keen interest in | ||||||
| 21 | legislation that affects the insurance industry, he serves as a | ||||||

| 1 | precinct captain for the Illinois Legislation Action Network | ||||||
| 2 | (ILAN); he is also an active member in other industry | ||||||
| 3 | organizations; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Dave Wians served as a youth baseball and | ||||||
| 5 | basketball coach in Chicago, Fox River Grove, and Cary for over | ||||||
| 6 | 20 years; he is the past president and past athletic director | ||||||
| 7 | of FRG Recreational Council, a youth activity organization; he | ||||||
| 8 | is a charter board member and past president of the FRG | ||||||
| 9 | Memorial Foundation, an organization created to build a | ||||||
| 10 | memorial to the seven children who died in the school | ||||||
| 11 | bus/commuter train accident in Fox River Grove on October 25, | ||||||
| 12 | 1995; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dave Wians has received numerous industry and | ||||||
| 14 | company awards based on his service to his customers throughout | ||||||
| 15 | the years; he was inducted into the Steinmetz High School Hall | ||||||
| 16 | of Fame in 2017, which honors graduates that have made notable | ||||||
| 17 | accomplishments and contributions to society; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dave Wians is a family man and an active | ||||||
| 19 | contributor to his community; he enjoys woodworking and being | ||||||
| 20 | outdoors; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Dave Wians and his wife Demetria have five | ||||||
| 22 | children and six grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 3 | we congratulate David "Dave" Wians on the occasion of his | ||||||
| 4 | retirement as president of the Gladstone Park Chamber of | ||||||
| 5 | Commerce and commend him for his dedication to the organization | ||||||
| 6 | over the past 21 years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 8 | presented to Dave Wians as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 9 | respect.
