HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Trey Hild, a senior at
4PORTA High School in Petersburg, on winning the Illinois High
5School Association (IHSA) Class 1A 145-pound State Wrestling
6Championship; and
7 WHEREAS, Trey Hild defeated Zach Haley of Quincy Notre Dame
8High School in the title match on February 17, 2018 at the
9State Farm Center in Champaign; the two had wrestled each other
10twice in the three weeks prior to the title match, with each
11wrestler winning one match; and
12 WHEREAS, Trey Hild had been a state runner-up for three
13straight years; he motivated himself after his second-place
14finish by emblazoning the phrase "second sucks" on a large sign
15in PORTA's gymnasium; and
16 WHEREAS, Trey Hild finished his season with a record of 50
17wins and one loss; his only loss of the season was to his
18eventual foe in the State Final match, Zach Haley; and
19 WHEREAS, Trey Hild is the only wrestler from PORTA to place
20at the State Championship four times; and

1 WHEREAS, Trey Hild is coached by Jeff Hill and was
2supported at the State Meet by his mother, Wendy, his father,
3Davey, his brother, Stormy, and a multitude of fans from PORTA;
4therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7congratulate Trey Hild on winning the IHSA Class 1A 145-pound
8State Wrestling Championship, and we admire his grit, drive,
9and commitment to excellence; we wish him the best of luck in
10the future; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Trey Hild as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
