| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gary Goforth, head | ||||||
| 4 | football coach at Benet Academy, on his retirement and success | ||||||
| 5 | as a football coach and mentor throughout the years; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Gary Goforth spent one season at Augustana College | ||||||
| 7 | as a graduate assistant before joining the Benet coaching staff | ||||||
| 8 | the next year to help out with the freshmen football team; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Gary Goforth quickly moved up the ranks and was | ||||||
| 10 | involved with the varsity coaching staff for 30 years, the last | ||||||
| 11 | 22 of which he was head coach, during which time he won 85 | ||||||
| 12 | games; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Gary Goforth led the Redwings to the playoffs six | ||||||
| 14 | times, with the Redwings making an appearance in the Class 6A | ||||||
| 15 | quarterfinals in 2003; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The Redwings football program produced quality | ||||||
| 17 | talent under Coach Goforth, such as current Wheaton North head | ||||||
| 18 | coach Joe Wardynski and former player Dan LeFevour, a storied | ||||||
| 19 | quarterback at Central Michigan University who's projected to | ||||||
| 20 | be selected in this year's NFL draft; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Coach Goforth remains the school's athletic | ||||||
| 2 | director, a position he has held for the past 19 years, and | ||||||
| 3 | continues to teach biology, showing his character as a mentor | ||||||
| 4 | on the field and in the classroom; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Coach Goforth has been a role model for young | ||||||
| 6 | students and players for years and will continue to be one for | ||||||
| 7 | years to come; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 9 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 10 | congratulate Benet Academy head football coach Gary Goforth on | ||||||
| 11 | his retirement and success as a coach and mentor; and be it | ||||||
| 12 | further

| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to Coach Gary Goforth as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
