| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate John Heath on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as Director of Bands at Batavia High | ||||||
| 5 | School after 22 years of dedicated service; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, John Heath earned his bachelor and master degrees | ||||||
| 7 | in music education and his bachelor�s degree in tuba | ||||||
| 8 | performance from the University of Illinois in | ||||||
| 9 | Champaign/Urbana; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Prior to his tenure at Batavia High School, John | ||||||
| 11 | Heath served as Director of Bands in Highland Illinois for 12 | ||||||
| 12 | years; he was also a member of the St. Louis Philharmonic | ||||||
| 13 | Orchestra for 10 seasons and a past president of the Illinois | ||||||
| 14 | Music Educators Association; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, John Heath has conducted at the Illinois Summer | ||||||
| 16 | Youth Music Camp and numerous IMEA District Band Festivals | ||||||
| 17 | throughout the State of Illinois; he is also a Tri-M (Music | ||||||
| 18 | Honor Society) Sponsor at Batavia High School; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, John Heath has been the recipient of numerous | ||||||
| 20 | honors for his work in music education, including the 2009 "Mr. | ||||||
| 21 | Holland's Opus" Award, the 2004 Kane County Regional | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Superintendent�s Award for Teaching Excellence, the Illinois | ||||||
| 2 | State Board of Education "Those Who Excel" Teaching Award, and | ||||||
| 3 | the 1998 Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award; he is an | ||||||
| 4 | 8-time recipient of Who's Who Among America's Teachers and a | ||||||
| 5 | 2-time recipient of the National Band Association Citation of | ||||||
| 6 | Excellence; he was also a candidate for the Illinois Teacher of | ||||||
| 7 | the Year award and was recognized in Who's Who in America; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, John Heath serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 9 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
| 10 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 12 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we congratulate John Heath on the occasion of his retirement | ||||||
| 14 | and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | ||||||
| 15 | further

| 17 | presented to John Heath as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
