HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Terrence J.
4 Freeman on the occasion of his retirement from the Woodridge
5 Police Department on February 27, 2010; and
6 WHEREAS, Terrence Freeman graduated from the Northwestern
7 University School of Police Staff and Command in February of
8 2004; he earned his bachelor's degree from Benedictine
9 University in December of 2008; and
10 WHEREAS, Terrence Freeman has had a long and distinguished
11 career in law enforcement; he began his career with the
12 Woodridge Police Department on June 8, 1979, when he was hired
13 to serve as a patrol officer; on July 9, 2000, he was promoted
14 to the rank of sergeant; and
15 WHEREAS, During his tenure as a patrol officer, Terrence
16 Freeman was one of the Woodridge Police Department's first
17 tactical officers in the mid-1980s; he served as a DARE officer
18 in the 1990s; he performed the duties of arson investigator and
19 evidence technician during his time as a patrol officer; he was
20 also elected by his peers to the Board of Directors for the
21 Metropolitan Alliance of Police (MAP) until his promotion to
22 sergeant in 2000; and

1 WHEREAS, Upon his promotion to sergeant, Terrence Freeman
2 served as a patrol team supervisor until July of 2005, when he
3 became a detective sergeant; as a detective sergeant, he became
4 a member of the Felony Investigative Assistance Team (FIAT), a
5 multi-jurisdictional police task force in DuPage County; and
6 WHEREAS, Terrence Freeman is the recipient of numerous
7 awards, letters of appreciation, honorable recognition awards,
8 and department commendations for his years of dedicated
9 service; and
10 WHEREAS, Terrence Freeman plans to enjoy his retirement
11 with his wife, Mary, and his sons, Shawn and Kevin; therefore,
12 be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15 congratulate Terrence J. Freeman on the occasion of his
16 retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement
17 years; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to Terrence Freeman as a symbol of our esteem and
20 respect.
