| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, There is a critical need in the United States to | ||||||
| 3 | instill in the minds of students the possibilities unleashed by | ||||||
| 4 | education and innovation in the fields of Science, Technology, | ||||||
| 5 | Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by providing students, | ||||||
| 6 | their teachers, and their parents with deep exposure to and a | ||||||
| 7 | sustainable experience with companies and organizations that | ||||||
| 8 | provide career paths in these specialized fields; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, PepsiCo is partnering with STEMconnector and | ||||||
| 10 | other companies and organizations across the United States, | ||||||
| 11 | including NASA and Teach for America, to address the need for | ||||||
| 12 | encouraging youth to pursue STEM degrees and careers; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, As a strong supporter of STEM education, PepsiCo | ||||||
| 14 | will host students, teachers, and parents in March of 2014 at | ||||||
| 15 | its Barrington research facility to provide career visibility, | ||||||
| 16 | honor teachers, share insights into a real business | ||||||
| 17 | environment, provide learning about innovation science, and | ||||||
| 18 | engage parents; therefore, be it

| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 20 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 21 | we commend the students who will participate in the STEM | ||||||
| 22 | program at PepsiCo's Barrington research facility.
