HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marine
4 Corporal Jamie Russel Lowe of Johnsonville, who gave his life
5 defending America's freedom on January 11, 2010, in the Helmand
6 province of southern Afghanistan; and
7 WHEREAS, Cpl. Jamie Lowe was born on November 15, 1988, in
8 Fairfield; his parents are Kevin L. and Teresa (Solomon) Lowe;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, Cpl. Lowe was a 2007 graduate of Cisne High
11 School; he was a member of Orchardville Community Church and
12 the Young Marines in Mt. Vernon; and
13 WHEREAS, Cpl. Lowe served with the 3rd Reconnaissance
14 Battalion, 3rd Marine Division of the III Marine Expeditionary
15 Force out of Okinawa, Japan; and
16 WHEREAS, Cpl. Lowe and two fellow Marines gave their lives
17 defending their unit as it was about to be ambushed by
18 insurgents; Cpl. Lowe helped save countless lives from being
19 lost by preventing the ambush; and
20 WHEREAS, Cpl. Lowe is the first serviceperson from Wayne

1 County to give his life in Operation Enduring Freedom; in honor
2 of Cpl. Lowe, flags throughout Wayne County are flying at
3 half-staff, including the flag at Cisne High School; and
4 WHEREAS, Cpl. Lowe will be remembered for his love for his
5 country, his generous spirit, his patriotism, and his love for
6 his family and friends; and
7 WHEREAS, Cpl. Lowe dedicated his life to defending
8 America's freedom and gave the ultimate sacrifice; he will be
9 missed by his parents, Kevin and Teresa Lowe; his brothers,
10 Cody and Hunter Lowe; his grandparents, Shirley Lowe and Russel
11 (Linda) Legg; his great-grandparents, Philip (Wilma) Lowe and
12 Elsie Ray; and his fellow soldiers and the citizens of our
13 grateful nation; therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 mourn, along with his family and friends and the rest of a
17 grateful nation, the passing of Marine Corporal Jamie Russel
18 Lowe; and be it further
19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of Corporal Jamie Lowe as a symbol of
21 our sincere sympathy.
