1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Pulaski Road, which was named after American | ||||||
3 | Revolution war hero Casimir Pulaski, is a major north-south | ||||||
4 | thoroughfare in the City of Chicago; prior to 1913, Pulaski | ||||||
5 | Road was known as 40th Avenue; the road was known as 40th | ||||||
6 | Avenue until 1935 when, over local opposition and a legal | ||||||
7 | battle that went all the way to the Illinois Supreme Court, the | ||||||
8 | thoroughfare was named after Casimir Pulaski; and

9 | WHEREAS, Pulaski Road still retains the name of Crawford | ||||||
10 | Avenue in the north suburbs of Lincolnwood, Skokie, Evanston, | ||||||
11 | and Wilmette, north of Devon Avenue (6400 N) and south from the | ||||||
12 | Chicago City Limits to Lincoln Highway US-30; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
14 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
15 | the entire north-south stretch of the thoroughfare, including | ||||||
16 | the aforementioned sections of Crawford Avenue, shall be | ||||||
17 | designated as Pulaski Road; and be it further

18 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | ||||||
19 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with | ||||||
20 | State regulations, plaques or signs giving notice of the name | ||||||
21 | of Pulaski Road; and be it further

3 | Transportation, the Village of Lincolnwood, the Village of | ||||||

5 | City of Chicago.
