HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize the Springfield High School
4show choir, Scarlet Harmony, for its achievements during the
5past season; and
6 WHEREAS, Back from a 10-year hiatus, Scarlet Harmony is an
7inspiring all female show choir comprised of 21
8singers/dancers backed by the Springfield High School show
9choir band, Executive Sound, and eight hardworking crew
10members; and
11 WHEREAS, Scarlet Harmony is an extracurricular activity,
12with members meeting two nights a week for two hours; and
13 WHEREAS, Scarlet Harmony, formerly a treble choir
14established almost 50 years ago, was transformed into a show
15choir by Kathy Elmore in 2011; and
16 WHEREAS, Scarlet Harmony has received numerous awards in
17its past two years of competing; it placed second runner-up in
18the Unisex/Treble Division at the Mt. Zion Midwest
19Invitational; the choir was named grand champion in Prep
20Division and fourth runner-up overall at the Keokuk Power City
21Invitational in Iowa; it was first runner-up in the Prep

1Division at the Central Lee Central Connection Invitational in
2Iowa; the choir was sixth runner-up in the Unisex/Treble
3Division at the Chatham-Glenwood The Event Invitational; it
4was declared grand champion in the Unisex/Treble Division at
5the Herscher Swing & Swing Invitational; and
6 WHEREAS, This year, Scarlet Harmony will have competed
7locally at Mt. Zion and Chatham and out-of-state at Keokuk and
8Central Lee, both in Iowa, before concluding its 2022 season
9at the Herscher Swing & Sing competition; and
10 WHEREAS, Scarlet Harmony is under the direction of and
11choreographed by Steven L. Robinson; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we recognize Scarlet Harmony for their achievements during the
15past season and wish its members continued success; and be it
16further
17 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
18presented to all members of Scarlet Harmony and as a symbol of
19our esteem and respect.
