HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jessie M.
4Winters, who passed away on January 10, 2018; and
5 WHEREAS, Jessie Winters was born in Greenwood, Mississippi
6to Jessie and Mollie Winters on January 20, 1946; shortly after
7her birth, she moved with her family to Chicago; and
8 WHEREAS, Jessie Winters was educated in the Chicago Public
9School System at Richard T. Crane High School; after
10graduation, she earned her associate's degree from Malcolm X
11College; she then continued her education in early childhood
12studies at Wilbur Wright College; and
13 WHEREAS, Jessie Winters worked at Burlington Northern
14Railroad for many years; after her retirement, she worked as an
15Instructional Assistant for children with special needs in the
16Chicago Public School System; she retired from that position in
172014; and
18 WHEREAS, Jessie Winters inspired many through her love of
19family, music, dancing, and playing cards; she never entered a
20room without greeting everyone; and

1 WHEREAS, Jessie Winters is survived by her sons, Eddie and
2Anthony; and her grandchildren, Travis, London, Donte, Lauren,
3Phillicia, Eddie Jr., and Brandon; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6mourn the passing of Jessie M. Winters and extend our sincere
7condolences to her family, friends, and all who loved her; and
8be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Jessie Winters as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
