| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Saint Elizabeth of the | ||||||
| 4 | Trinity parish in Chicago on its formation through the | ||||||
| 5 | successful merger of Saint Tarcissus, Saint Cornelius, and | ||||||
| 6 | Saint Thecla parishes; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Saint Elizabeth refers to Elizabeth Catez, a | ||||||
| 8 | French Discalced Carmelite nun, who died in 1906 at the age of | ||||||
| 9 | 26 from Addison's disease, a disorder which affects the adrenal | ||||||
| 10 | glands; she was canonized in 2016 and serves as the patron of | ||||||
| 11 | sick people, of the loss of parents, and against illness; the | ||||||
| 12 | parish's name also reflects its origin as three separate | ||||||
| 13 | parishes uniting together to form a trinity, similar to the | ||||||
| 14 | Catholic belief of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit | ||||||
| 15 | forming the Holy Trinity; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The new parish will be located in the current home | ||||||
| 17 | of Saint Tarcissus at 6020 West Ardmore Avenue in Chicago; the | ||||||
| 18 | Saint Tarcissus campus and church will be referred to as Saint | ||||||
| 19 | Elizabeth of the Trinity in all parish materials beginning July | ||||||
| 20 | 1, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, In addition, the Pope Francis Global Academy North | ||||||
| 22 | Campus, which is housed in the former Saint Tarcissus School, | ||||||

| 1 | will be renamed the Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity School; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The current pastor of Saint Tarcissus, Mike | ||||||
| 3 | Grisolano, will become the pastor of Saint Elizabeth of the | ||||||
| 4 | Trinity starting this summer; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Currently, plans are being made to form a | ||||||
| 6 | unification committee that will consist of approximately six | ||||||
| 7 | members from each the three parishes; the committee's | ||||||
| 8 | responsibilities will include sponsoring events in which | ||||||
| 9 | members of all three parishes will participate; therefore, be | ||||||
| 10 | it

| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we congratulate Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity and wish them | ||||||
| 14 | many years of faith and fellowship as they build their new | ||||||
| 15 | community; and be it further

| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to Pastor Mike Grisolano and the Saint Elizabeth of | ||||||
| 18 | the Trinity parish as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
