| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to
congratulate the Knox County Farm | ||||||
| 4 | Bureau on the occasion of its
100th Anniversary, and its | ||||||
| 5 | century long tradition of serving
local farmers and advocating | ||||||
| 6 | for their needs; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, 100 years ago on February 16, 1918, the Knox | ||||||
| 8 | County
Farm Bureau was established by a group of 370 farmers | ||||||
| 9 | from
across the county; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The Knox County Farm Bureau was founded in order
| ||||||
| 11 | to provide educational services, farm research, and | ||||||
| 12 | information
to farmers across the county; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, As the Knox County Farm Bureau has matured, its
| ||||||
| 14 | offices have been housed at five different locations including
| ||||||
| 15 | 76 South Cherry Street, 272 East Simmons Street, 95 North
| ||||||
| 16 | Seminary Street, 256 South Soangetaha Road, and, currently, 180
| ||||||
| 17 | South Soangetaha Road in Galesburg in the Knox Agri-Center; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, The Knox Agri-Center is a condominium association
| ||||||
| 19 | that was formed in 1979 to serve as an agriculture center in | ||||||
| 20 | the
community and today it houses the Knox County Farm Bureau,
| ||||||
| 21 | COUNTRY Financial, and the University of Illinois Extension
| ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | offices; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Today, the Knox County Farm Bureau is 2600 members
| ||||||
| 3 | strong, having grown to this size under the leadership of its
| ||||||
| 4 | past 23 presidents including such distinguished former leaders
| ||||||
| 5 | as John Block who served as the Secretary of Agriculture under
| ||||||
| 6 | the Reagan Administration; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Currently, Knox County Farm Bureau President | ||||||
| 8 | Grant
Strom and the Knox County Farm Bureau continue the | ||||||
| 9 | tradition
of serving the community and local farmers; | ||||||
| 10 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
| ||||||
| 13 | congratulate the Knox County Farm Bureau on its 100 year
| ||||||
| 14 | anniversary and its success and diligence in serving local
| ||||||
| 15 | farmers; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented
to the Knox County Farm Bureau and to the President | ||||||
| 18 | of the Knox
County Farm Bureau, Grant Strom, as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 19 | esteem and
respect.
