HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ethan A. DeKeyser
on being named an Eagle Scout by the Boy Scouts of America
Troop #96, Grayslake; and
WHEREAS, Ethan DeKeyser joined Cub Scouts as a Tiger Cub
when in the first grade; in February of 2009, he earned The
Arrow of Light award, the highest rank a Cub Scout can achieve;
in March of 2009, he joined the Boy Scouts Troop #96 and
advanced to the rank of Tenderfoot in December of 2009, to
Second Class in June of 2010, and to First Class in August of
2011; he achieved the rank of Star Scout in June of 2011 and
Life Scout in July of 2012; and
WHEREAS, As Life Scout, Ethan DeKeyser was elected to the
Order of the Arrow; he completed both his Ordeal and
Brotherhood of the Arrow; he started his Eagle Project,
building a brick patio adjacent to the Grayslake Historical
Society, in the fall of 2012 and completed it in August of
2013; it contains a seating area suitable for gatherings during
historical society tours or small concerts; and
WHEREAS, Ethan DeKeyser has earned 37 Merit Badges,
significantly more than required to earn the rank of Eagle

Scout; he completed his Eagle Scout Board of Review on October
23, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Ethan DeKeyser resides in Grayslake and is a
sophomore at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein; he is on
the Scholastic Bowl Team, the Mathematics Team, and enjoys
being a member of the set design, construction, and sound crew
for Carmel High School's various drama performances; and
WHEREAS, Ethan DeKeyser will be recognized at a Court of
Honor on January 18, 2014; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we congratulate Ethan A. DeKeyser on achieving the rank of
Eagle Scout, thank him for his service to his community, and
wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Ethan DeKeyser as an expression of our esteem and
respect.
