Bill Title: Recognizes that pornography harms the State and its citizens and further recognizes the need for education, prevention, research, and policy change at the community and societal level in order to address the epidemic of pornography that is harming the citizens of Illinois and the country as a whole.

| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The pervasive damage caused by pornography is | ||||||
| 3 | beyond the
scope of any one individual to address; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Any efforts to prevent pornography exposure and
| ||||||
| 5 | addiction, educate individuals and families concerning its | ||||||
| 6 | harms,
and develop recovery programs must be addressed | ||||||
| 7 | systemically in
ways that hold broader influences accountable | ||||||
| 8 | in order to
counter the sexually toxic environment it | ||||||
| 9 | perpetuates; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Pornography is more widespread and accessible | ||||||
| 11 | than
at any other time in American history; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The most vulnerable members of society, our
| ||||||
| 13 | children, are often exposed to pornographic material; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Pornography treats women as objects and
| ||||||
| 15 | commodities for the viewer's use, teaching girls that they are
| ||||||
| 16 | objects to be used and teaching boys that this is acceptable
| ||||||
| 17 | behavior; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Pornography normalizes violence and abuse of
| ||||||
| 19 | women and children and treats them as objects; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Pornography equates torment and violence against
| ||||||
| 2 | women and children with pleasure, increasing the demand for sex
| ||||||
| 3 | trafficking, prostitution, child sexual abuse images, and | ||||||
| 4 | child
pornography; therefore, be it

| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 6 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
| ||||||
| 7 | recognize that pornography harms the State and its citizens; | ||||||
| 8 | and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That we recognize the need for education,
| ||||||
| 10 | prevention, research, and policy change at the community and
| ||||||
| 11 | societal level in order to address the epidemic that is harming
| ||||||
| 12 | the citizens of Illinois and the country as a whole.
